BrainLab AG, a German vendor, has come up with a Digital Lightbox. This has got a touchscreen with some basic functionality such as ROI measurement, zoom-pan etc. Could not help but wonder what amazing applications one can think of if we marry this with the Microsoft Surface platform.

How Software Is Built
April 16th, 2008 · No Comments
A nice, purposeful blog, this captures very interesting interviews with people well-seeped in the art of this trade.
In one interview, Mark Osborne, Chief Architect of the Microsoft’s Developer Division (responsible for Visual Studio) talks about the problems every almost company faces.
But at the end of the day, there’s this kind of tension between needing to […]

Dwindling Bangalore Linux User Group
December 21st, 2007 · No Comments
The Linux/FOSS movement in Bangalore is apparently hot, but for some reason the flow in the mailing list has ebbed. This post is not delivered with any hint of sarcasm or snigger. Just that a sense of potentially irrational tragic wonder.
Maybe too many books available ?Maybe the openness in the Open Source Movement is on […]

PlugLondon: An interesting variation on Barcamp
November 6th, 2007 · 1 Comment
Four companies come together an invite the software developers of a city to come and discuss technology.
Welcome to PlugLondon.
Eat, drink, make merry, go back and write code. Sounds very Barcampish, but I like a few twists that have been put in. From the website,
This is not a corporate exercise driven by PR but started […]

Winners at Yahoo! Hackday India
October 8th, 2007 · 17 Comments
24 hours of continuous hacking on Friday and Saturday and won. So this post is embarrassingly looooong. Inertia of Euphoria, I guess. Naseer, Vijay, Arun (who had to unfortunately leave very early on) cobbled together a collaborative medical image viewer using the Yahoo! Widget Platform.
It’ kind of sounds too much politically correct to say that everyone was […]

Google Timeline and Map Views
September 30th, 2007 · No Comments
Surfing by Google Labs, came to know of two interesting features. The timeline and map view for Google Search. Given a search topic, google parses the results for key dates and locations and plots them on a timeline or on a (google) map.
Type the following into google: indian freedom movement view:timeline
You can drill-down into the […]

Ruby
Started writing a distributed simulation in Ruby. And this is a great opportunity to learn a great language. One think I am liking about Ruby is that it gives you the opportunity to be terse without being cryptic (Perl). Don’t get me wrong, I love Perl and possibly the real-life implementation of this simulation is […]

Monkey GTD — failed to upgrade
September 1st, 2007 · 1 Comment
Sept 1, 2007
I downloaded MonkeyGTD 2.1 alpha r91 (note: version may change, this is not a permalink) based on Amaziiing Mathias’ inputs. [Previous post]
The first thing I notice is that the UI has changed radically, which may or may not be a bad thing.
The first time I tried to save something, I get an […]

MonkeyGTD - Quick Review
August 27th, 2007 · 8 Comments
There is nothing more dangerous than a lazy man looking for productivity tools.
So, unless you have been sleeping under the willow, you ought to know that GTD is the coolest thing to happen in the world of productivity gimmicks, since contraception.
I read GTD about a year ago and found that it had enough new material […]
